River Cottages - Ironbridge
River Cottages are a pair of beautifully restored, self-catering cottages. They date back to 1650, the time of the English Civil War, and are amongst the oldest buildings in the historical Ironbridge Gorge, right in the heart of Shropshire.
The cottages are just a 3 minute walk along the river to the historical bridge itself and the town centre.
Both cottages sleep 4 adults comfortably, each having one double and one twin bedded room. Families are welcome as are small parties of adults, although we are unfortunately unable to cater for pets and the cottages are strictly no smoking.
The cottages have been restored sympathetically, tastefully and beautifully, to retain their character and features whilst also offering a high level of comfort.
The cottages are timber framed with stone frontages and interior hand made brick work (bricks dating back to the 17th Century), all of which are exposed.
The floors downstairs are oak (with rugs) and there are quarry tiles in the kitchens.
The kitchens are modern and have everything needed for a comfortable stay, including washing machines and dishwashers.
There are attractive inglenook fireplaces in the living rooms each housing a multi fuel stove and full gas central heating provides both cottages with a warm and cosy atmosphere in winter months.
They both have enclosed, south facing sun terraces with relaxing garden furniture to unwind and watch the World go by.
All beds are hand made by a local iron craftsman and bed linen is top quality.
Towels, bed linen, and tea towels are provided together with complimentary toiletries and a welcome pack in the kitchen (including tea/coffee/sugar/milk/biscuits/dish washer tablets), to make your stay start in a stress free way no matter how late your arrival.
